DENVER -

Auto Remarketing learned that Ally Financial is announcing today it will be partnering with a Denver Area dealer to make a contribution to the Boy Scouts of America Denver Area Council.

The company will be making a $10,000 contribution to the organization in the name of Mike Shaw — recently named 2012 national Time Dealer of the Year.

The donation is part of Shaw’s achievement as Time Dealer of the Year out of a select group of dealers from across the United States. Shaw personally chose the Boy Scouts of America Denver Area Council as the recipent of the donation.

“The TIME Dealer of the Year award is one of the automobile industry’s most prestigious and highly coveted honors. Recipients are among the nation’s most successful auto dealers who also demonstrate a long-standing commitment to community service,” officials explained.

The presentation of the contribution will take place at 3 p.m. MST at Shaw’s dealership, located at 1080 South Colorado Boulevard in Denver.

Commenting on the news, Tim Russi, executive vice president of North American Auto Operations at Ally Financial, said, “Mike continues to have a tremendous impact on the vitality and strength of his community.

“We’re honored to recognize Mike and are truly inspired by the many important organizations he is involved with that serve the Denver community,” he added.

And the Boy Scouts of America is not the only community cause Shaw is involved in.

“For the past 17 years, Shaw has also been involved in other local community causes, such as the Boys & Girls Club of America, Urban League of Denver, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Colorado Aids Walk, Food Bank of the Rockies, American Cancer Society, Crime Stoppers and Executive Women International and Seniors Incorporated, to name a few,” officials reported.

Shaw has also been an adviser or board member of the National Western Stock Show, St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, Denver Zoological Foundation, Texas State Aquarium and Kempe Foundation, as well as spearheading numerous fundraising events.

But The Boy Scouts holds special significance for the dealer.

“The Boy Scouts were instrumental in molding me and instilling my ethical and core values,” said Shaw. “It is such an honor to be recognized for giving back and impacting the lives of our future leaders in this way.

“I am a person who deeply cares about kids and their education. I am convinced the key to success is education, and thus, my commitment to kids and education is a driving force. I also believe that what you give, you get back tenfold,” Shaw concluded.
