AJAC Unveils Winners in Its Canadian Car of Year Program
NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ontario -
The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada recently unveiled the list of 11 new-vehicle segment winners that will be up for the 2011 Canadian Car of the Year or 2011 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year honors.
AJAC revealed its “Best New” winners in each of the respective segments after the four-day “TestFest,” in which 70 journalists conducted comprehensive evaluations of 144 new vehicles.
General Motors was represented in three spots, while Ford and Volkswagen each took two.
With the list of finalists set, the association will crown the overall winners Feb. 17 at the Canadian International Auto Show.
Also revealed at the show— which is being held in Toronto — AJAC is announcing Best New Design and Best New Technology awards.
The following are the Best New vehicles in their respective segments:
—Best New Small Car (under $21,000): Ford Fiesta
—Best New Small Car (over $21,000): Chevrolet Cruze
—Best New Family Car (under $30,000): Volkswagen Jetta TDI Clean Diesel
—Best New Family Car (over $30,000): Buick Regal
—Best New Luxury Car (over $50,000): BMW 5 Series Sedan
—Best New Prestige Car (over $75,000): Porsche 911 Turbo S
—Best New Sports/Performance Car: Cadillac CTS-V Coupe
—Best New Minivan: Toyota Sienna
—Best New SUV/CUV (under $35,000): Hyundai Tucson
—Best New SUV/CUV ($35,000 to $50,000): Ford Edge
—Best New SUV/CUV (over $50,000): Volkswagen Touareg
