CENTREVILLE, Va. -

Carfax revealed Thursday that its mascot Car Fox has been voted “Most Irritating Animated Actor” by The Consumerist — a blog owned by the Consumers Union that highlights shopper opinions and experiences.

Through the company’s “Show Me the Carfax” campaign, its Car Fox mascot has become a household name, showing up on televisions and in magazines countrywide.

In response to being voted in as the most annoying character on the airwaves, the Car Fox had this to say:  “Thank you to everyone who voted me as the ‘Most Irritating Animated Actor!’ Being selected among other actors from great companies like Aflac, Orkin and Blue Tax means I’m doing my job very well.

“Despite my penchant for over-the-top appearances like flying a plane or floating with balloons, I’m 100 percent focused on helping people buy and sell used cars with more confidence. For me, nothing is more irritating than someone who unknowingly buys a bad used car when they could have simply said ‘Show Me the Carfax.’”

The company also noted that the “Show Me the Carfax” campaign “has propelled brand awareness of Carfax and consumer requests for Carfax Vehicle History Reports to an all-time high, nearly double since the campaign launched.”

All of the current ad spots from the campaign are available on the Carfax YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/carfax.
