ORLANDO, Fla. -

The company whose mascot has become a household name in the country said it has reached an industry milestone.

Carfax announced this past weekend at the NADA 2013 Conference and Expo that its database of vehicle history information has reached 11 billion records.

Furthermore, the database is made up of information from more than 75,000 sources. This includes the U.S. and Canadian motor vehicle departments, service and repair facilities, insurance companies and police departments, the company shared.

The company database is located in Columbia, Mo., where Carfax was founded in 1986.

Commenting on the news, Larry Gamache, communications director at Carfax said, "We work hard to provide our customers with the best information.

"Successful programs like Carfax Service Network and Police Crash Assistance help us forge strong relationships with key sources throughout North America. Every day we add millions of new records to our database. Knowing more about the cars we buy and sell makes our roads safer than ever before," he continued.
