BURLINGAME, Calif. -

In what likely comes as welcome news to an automaker battling numerous challenges as of late, CarWoo revealed recently that the brand generating the most interest from consumers on the site in July was Toyota.

The second most-popular brand was Honda, followed by Ford in third and Audi in fourth. Ford improved from its fifth-place ranking, while Audi climbed eight spots from No. 12.

For July, Nissan claimed the fifth spot after placing third in June.

Offering some pricing details, CarWoo indicated that new-car prices dropped 7 percent month-over-month. The site contends that prices seem to have peaked in May and early June.

CarWoo also expects “major price wars” later this month.

The brands providing the heftiest discounts in July were Nissan (10.38 percent off MSRP) and Ford (8.38 percent off MSRP).

“We are seeing a steady drop in prices across the board. As inventory levels stabilize later in August, we anticipate major prices wars starting up. Early fall looks like it could be a great time to buy a car,” said CarWoo chief executive officer Tommy McClung.
