CARY, N.C. -

My first job after graduating college 10 way-too-short years ago was as a sports reporter for an afternoon newspaper in Brunswick, Ga.

Not long into my tenure, The Brunswick News (#SpecialShoutout to Coastal Georgia!) switched to a morning paper format.

Each distribution time had its merits.

With an afternoon paper, you might get to throw in a few extra details to a story if it developed further overnight. With a morning paper, you’re first on the scene, so to speak.

In my eight years with Auto Remarketing, we have largely been a “morning paper” with our Auto Remarketing Today e-newsletter that hits your email inbox at 7 a.m. (ET) each weekday.

But in 2016, we’re going to offer the best of both worlds.

You will still get your 7 a.m. Auto Remarketing Today to start your day. But we’re also going to publish an afternoon edition with even more up-to-date news: Auto Remarketing Today PM.

AR Today — which, by the way, has an all-new look thanks to our dynamic graphic design team — will include eight stories and be released at 7 a.m. (EST).

AR Today PM will be distributed between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and include two stories.

Think of it like this: AR Today is your morning coffee. AR Today PM is your quick, mid-afternoon snack break.

Essentially, you’ll get more of the day’s news delivered to you sooner.

But that’s not the only editorial change afoot at Auto Remarketing in 2016. We’ve made some shifts on the print side, as well.

Our editorial calendar is stocked with the usual “franchise” issues (Best CPO Dealers in the USA, Women in Remarketing, special convention editions, Top 100 Used Car Dealers, Power 300) and recent newcomers like the Remarketing & Used-Car 40 Under 40.

Auto Remarketing will also have three issues that are brand new for 2016:

  • January – Leading Dealer Groups. Here we will spotlight top retail groups and how they succeed in the pre-owned market. More of a “new feature format” than some of our other top dealer issues.
  • May 1 – The Innovation Issue: Start-ups, New Companies & Initiatives Impacting the Used-Car Industry. This magazine will showcase newcomers to the used-car industry, plus the new ideas from longtime players that are impacting the industry. This one could be real fun.

(FYI, PR friends: We’re putting this issue together right after the NADA Convention & Expo, which is always a great place for us reporters to learn about these new companies and initiatives. Holler at me to set up interviews)

  • Sept. 15 – Best Auto Auctions to Work For. In the inaugural edition to this feature, honorees will be spotlighted through a listing of recipients, feature stories and more.

In 2016, you will also see us utilize more video and audio content in our reporting, as we continue to take advantage of the digital and social media opportunities that are out there for news organizations like us.

It has been a wonderful 2015. In addition to the new print offerings, new online adventures like the CPO Weekly e-newsletter have been highly successful and fun to produce, quite honestly.

And we look forward to another great year.

As always, please feel free to send feedback, questions, story ideas, criticism, praise, recipes, book recommendations, etc., to joverby@autoremarketing.com or @AR_JoeOverby on Twitter.

Enjoy a restful and safe holiday season!
