Potratz: Do You Make This Mistake With Your Team?
Paul Potratz has attended a host of auto industry conferences in Las Vegas. But during his most recent visit to Sin City, the chief operating officer and founder of Potratz Partners Advertising said he learned about something that’s missing from most organizations, especially dealerships.
In his latest video in the online series, “Think Tank Tuesday,” Potratz described his experience while watching Cirque du Soleil, which is a dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment.
“I’m sitting here watching the show thinking, ‘This is death defying. People could die here.’ But there was one thing that was just absolutely amazing,” Potratz said.
“It just clicked with me, ‘Are they really having that much fun?’ I truly think they are, but what are they really doing?
“They’re watching the person that’s leading, but they’re ready for action, ready to make the next move because they have practiced and practiced,” he continued.
Potratz then made the connection to what might happen in the showroom. He prodded dealers to ask what they are you doing to make sure managers, salespeople and the Internet department are all working in tune together.
“When you’re building a company, what you have to do — and it’s a struggle — is to understand the protocol of exactly what should happen,” Potratz said.
