Toyota, Mercedes take top spots in ALG Pre-Owned Awards

Toyota and Mercedes-Benz have earned top mainstream and luxury brand honors, respectively, in the second annual ALG Pre-Owned Values Awards.

The awards, announced Monday, recognize the 2-year-old vehicles expected to retain the most value over the next three years, ALG said in a news release. In addition to the overall brand winners, the POVA’s recognize winners in 26 segments.

Mercedes, which took four individual segments, was lauded for having “leveraged decades of experience in the CPO space to become the leader in pre-owned value among luxury brands.”

Toyota was the winner in six individual segments, maintaining its perch atop the mainstream segment, which it also won in 2016. (Infiniti was the top luxury brand in last year’s inaugural awards).

“With supply of pre-owned vehicles on the rise, it is critical for automakers to communicate the value of a brand’s Pre-Owned product offering,” TrueCar executive vice president and ALG president Jim Nguyen said in a news release. “The ALG Pre-Owned Value Awards is the most efficient platform to provide peace of mind to used vehicle shoppers and complement an automaker’s CPO program.

“This award is designed to identify used vehicles that will hold the highest percentage of their value over the next three years,” he said. “Whether you are a millennial buying your first car after college graduation or looking to stretch your dollar into a luxury brand, obtaining top value for a pre-owned vehicle is a critical component of the shopping experience.”
