HERNDON, Va. — Audi recognized its U.S. dealers that had the best performances last year on Thursday as it unveiled its 2009 Magna Society honors.

Fifty-eight of Audi's 270 U.S. stores received this distinction, which is given to dealers that provide "superlative customer service" and post strong overall business performances.

In essence, these stores are exceptionally well-rounded. Magna Society dealerships not only meet or surpass sales goals, but they have shown that they are on solid ground financially, earn high scores when it comes to customer satisfaction and prove that both their facilities and employees "represent the progressive Audi culture," according to officials.

"The ability of Audi to flourish in these times has been built on sound business practices, a sharper brand identity and the outstanding customer service provided by our best dealers," said Mark Del Rosso, chief operating officer for Audi of America. "With the Magna Society we recognize the U.S. dealers who have provided the best examples in 2009."

Audi says this program is consistent with the long-term plans of the automaker and its dealer body "to make Audi facilities more exclusive."

The automaker indicated that its facilities' spending for 2003 through 2011 is expected to total $1 billion. Moreover, the automaker indicated that in the last four years the number of exclusive Audi dealers has jumped to 135 out of 271 stores in the U.S., a 34-percent upswing.

Audi anticipates there will be 140 exclusive Audi stores by year's end.

"Commitment like this from dealers shows the excitement generated by the Audi brand and the collection of exceptional motor cars Audi has been introducing in recent years," explained Johan de Nysschen, president of Audi of America.

"It is the basis for a very bright future for Audi, its dealer partners and, most of all, customers," he added.
