FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — AutoNation recently boasted that its new-vehicle sales for May showed a 22-percent jump year over year. Sales, as reported to the respective automakers, came in at 19,283.

More specifically, the auto group said domestic sales were up 28 percent, coming in at 5,852. Import sales grew by 21 percent over last year, reaching 10,232 and premium luxury sales were up 15 percent, hitting 3,199.

"We are announcing our retail new-vehicle unit sales for May 2010 (including comparisons to May 2009), as reported by us to the applicable automotive manufacturers, to provide investors will additional information regarding our new-vehicle business," company officials indicated in a statement.

"We intend to announce our retail new-vehicle unit sales, as reported by us to the applicable automotive manufacturers, on a monthly basis in the future," they added.
