WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. — BMW of North America announced new management appointments within its sales division Friday.

As part of the moves, the automaker said Bob Frisch, vice president of the Western region will retire. Taking his place will be Arturo Pineiro. Additionally, Kevin Coon was named vice president of the Central region.

Frisch, VP of the Western region, will retire Sept. 30. During his 34-year career with BMW, he held management roles at the regional level and national level as national customer relations manager, manager of aftersales development and manager of center development. Moreover, he also served an expatriate assignment at BMW AG in Munich, Germany.

As Frisch leaves, Pineiro will step into the role of vice president of the Western region on Aug. 1. He will be responsible for sales of BMW and Mini in 11 states, including California, Arizona and Colorado, which accounts for 25 percent of the automaker's sales volume in the U.S.

Currently, Pineiro is vice president of the Central region, which is a position he has held since May 2009. Before that, he served as chief executive officer of BMW Group Central and South America, as well as head of the U.S. unit of BMW's motorcycle business. Pineiro has been with the company since 1995.

As for Coon, he steps into Pineiro's former role of VP of the Central region Aug. 1. In his new position, he will be responsible for sales of BMW and Mini vehicle throughout 14 Midwestern states, including Illinois, Michigan and Ohio.

Currently, Coon is the regional sales and marketing director for Africa, the Caribbean and Eastern Europe. Before this role, he served in a variety of different positions for Central and Eastern Europe, including director of sales and marketing, general sales manager and senior area manager for BMW. Coon has been with the BMW Group since 1982.

Coon's successor in Germany will be announced at a later date, according to the automaker.

Both the Western and Central region positions report to Peter Miles, executive vice president of operations at BMW of North America.
