CarMax Resumes Growth with Construction of New Store
RICHMOND, Va. — CarMax already operates dealerships in 26 states. After a hiatus of more than two years, the company started construction on a new rooftop this week to raise its state penetration by one more.
Executives highlighted the ongoing work now being done on a new CarMax superstore in Baton Rouge, La. This marks the company's first location in the state of Louisiana.
The closest cities where CarMax currently has locations are Houston and Jackson, Miss.
CarMax is looking to open this facility in the Louisiana capital next year, creating 50 to 75 jobs. The showroom and service center is expected to encompass 36,726 square feet. The site covers more than nine acres at 6750 Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge.
"CarMax is excited to re-start our growth plan after the most difficult time in our company's history," stressed Tom Folliard, president and chief executive officer of CarMax.
"It has been more than two years since we began construction on a new store and we look forward to bringing our unique consumer offer to more areas of the country," Folliard added.
