CHICAGO -

Cars.com recently upgraded its mobile platform by integrating Carfax vehicle history reports into its mobile site, meaning history details can be delivered quickly to interested used-car shoppers on the go, potentially giving them more confidence to make a purchase.

Here is how it is designed to work.

When a shopper visits the Cars.com mobile site, the individual can tap on the Carfax text link on the vehicle details pages of listings where the dealer has run a Carfax report. The visitor is then provided with the report.

“Cars.com continues to pioneer the way car shoppers use mobile to buy new and used cars,” stated Sharon Knitter, senior director for mobile at Cars.com.

“Nearly 35 percent of car shoppers use their mobile devices such as iPads and smartphones during the car-shopping process, so the addition of free Carfax vehicle history reports gives these shoppers one more invaluable tool to help them shop with confidence,” she added.

Larry Gamache, Carfax’s communications director, noted: “Smartphone shoppers expect to get the same information as they would using a computer to search for used cars online. Providing access to Carfax reports on the Cars.com mobile site helps ensure on-the-go buyers won’t miss this crucial step in their decision-making process and can buy with greater confidence.”
