OXFORD, Mass. — Central Mass Auto Auction welcomed new leadership recently, bringing in two new managers, both of which were previously at Ocean State Auto Auction in Rhode Island.

Appointed to serve as general manager was Glenn Maurice, while Tom Balise was hired as general sales manager.

"I am excited at the opportunity to grow Central Mass Auto Auction and continue in their efforts to reach their vision of being New England's largest and most successful independent auto auction," Maurice commented.

"Tom and I bring to the table experience in a multitude of areas that will propel the auction to the next level. I look forward to being a part of this team," he added.

The assets of Central Mass Auto Auction, Inc. were bought by Joseph Smalley and David Massad II at the end of 2008. At the time, the store was more than 17 years old.

"David and I have over 75-plus years' experience in the industry, including perspectives as both buyers and sellers at auto auctions along with an owner's point of view," Smalley shared.

"With the addition of Glenn and Tom, and their 60-plus years' experience in the automotive industry, we are confident that our team can continue to grow and improve the services as well as to increase the size and diversity of vehicle inventory offering," he continued. 

CMAA says it has significantly boosted its marketing efforts recently, as it added a multi-channel marketing campaign that includes e-mail promotions, newsletters, telemarketing and a larger presence on the Internet.

The auction has also made technological improvements, and it now utilizes AutoIMS, online sales and Simulcasting capabilities. It has created a second Simulcast lane for Thursday sales.

"This was the ideal time for Glenn and I to make the switch to Central Mass Auto Auction," Balise shared. "CMAA has come a long way since Joe purchased the auction and it is presently very successful in its own right.

I am thrilled to be a part of its continued growth and know that, with the influx of new dealers that will be coming to the auction, we can provide excellent customer service and a high level of client satisfaction. This is the perfect fit for us as well as the auction," he added.
