RALEIGH, N.C. — Chris Leith Performance Car & Truck Division is hosting an event this weekend at the 2010 Raleigh Classic Car Auction where auto enthusiasts can meet legendary former racing driver Steve Saleen, who is the founder and former vice chairman of Saleen Inc.

Until 2009, Saleen Inc. manufactured such specialty vehicles as the highly modified Ford Mustangs.

Steve Saleen's new company, SMS, has recently unveiled the SMS 570TM Challenger and the SMS 570XTM Challenger, which are the debut models from the company's line of Signature Series ultra high-performance vehicles.

The Raleigh Classic Car Auction, which is being held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (EST) on Friday and Saturday, will have these two vehicles on display.

The auction — which is being held at North Carolina State Fairgrounds' Jim Graham Building and Exposition Building — will feature various rare muscle cars, mint originals from the 1930s through 1970s that haven't been restored, and other classic models.

Officials noted that because Chris Leith Performance Car & Truck Division is the exclusive Saleen Dodge Challenger Headquarters for the Mid-Atlantic U.S., Raleigh's Chris Leith Dodge is the only store in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia that sells Saleen Dodge Challengers.
