AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -

Chrysler is once again reaching out to students in the Latino community, revealing Friday that its charitable arm is giving the Hispanic Scholarship Fund a $50,000 grant.

The gift from the Chrysler Foundation will provide financial aid to Hispanic students studying in a science, technology, engineering or mathematical fields.

The Chrysler Foundation has been providing grants to the HSF since 1986. The foundation has given more than $750,000 through the 25 grants it has provided to HSF in the last 25 years.

“The future of our country, indeed, the future of Chrysler Group, more and more demands that we take an active role in supporting the development of highly motivated, highly trained technical leaders with diverse backgrounds,” said Fred Diaz, who is the president and chief executive officer of Chrysler de Mexico and the Ram Truck brand.

Diaz announced the grant Friday in Dearborn, Mich. while delivering the keynote speech at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s annual Fiesta Hispana Gala.

"Chrysler is committed to ensuring that a diverse group of leaders drive the next era of innovation which fuels the country’s economic growth," he added.
