RICHMOND, Va. -

CarMax took a step toward expansion in Kentucky recently, as it started building its new superstore in Lexington.

When the company celebrates the anticipated 2011 opening, the new store will join the existing Louisville facility to make up CarMax’s pair of Blue Grass state locations.

Officials projected that 50 to 75 jobs will be created thanks to the new store. The building will be 14,123 square feet and located on over six acres.

“As we continue to break ground on new markets, the excitement of resuming growth can be seen throughout the company,” shared Tom Folliard,
CarMax’s president and chief executive officer.

“We look forward to bringing our unique consumer offer to new communities such as Lexington,” he added.
