DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -

CrankyApe.com, an online powersports auction company, is taking a customized Harley Davidson motorcycle made by Paul Jr. Designs that’s going to be featured on the TV show American Chopper: Sr. vs. Jr. and selling it to benefit the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

The campaign was triggered by the relationship of one of CrankyApe.com’s founders to a Minnesota police officer killed in the line of duty.

CrankyApe.com founders recalled that on Aug. 26, 1994, St. Paul police officers Ronald Michael Ryan Jr. and Timothy James Jones, along with his canine, Laser, were shot and killed in the line of duty when investigating a suspicious person who was sleeping in a car alongside a St. Paul roadway. Ryan was a close family friend of Brian Livingston, who co-founded CrankyApe.com with Jay Adams.

Livingston and Adams want to give back to the community and commemorate all fallen officers.  The redesigned Harley Davidson motorcycle will be publicly auctioned on CrankyApe.com and proceeds will be donated to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

The auction company pointed out the NLEOMF is a nonprofit organization that generates increased public support and commemorates the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

“I think about Officer Ryan and all he and his family lost, and now we have an opportunity to give something back,” Adams stated.

“While nothing can compare to what these fallen officers have given, we hope to help gain recognition and support for such a great charitable organization whose focus is remembering those who have made the greatest sacrifice to our communities,” Livingston added.

Potential buyers can get more details about the motorcycle designed by Paul Teutul Jr. and his team at Paul Jr. Designs on show episodes set for May 2 and 9.

The unit will also be on display at J&P Cycles in Daytona Beach, Fla., during National Police Week 2011, which takes place May 8 through 15.

The auction for the customized motorcycle will be held online at www.CrankyApe.com after the episodes air on TV.

“We are honored to partner with CrankyApe.com to recognize and remember officer Ryan and so many other officers who love motorcycles,” noted Craig Floyd, chairman and chief executive officer of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

“The bond between law enforcement and motorcycling is strong,” Floyd continued. “For over 100 years, motor officers have been patrolling our communities and protecting our citizens every day.”
