TULSA, Okla. -

Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group revealed Monday that it has appointed its president and chief executive officer as chairman of the board of directors.

Scott Thompson will assume the role from Richard Neu, who will remain on the board as lead independent director.

The company noted that the changes are effective immediately.

This news comes on the heels of the company announcing this past October that it is no longer up for sale.

Having received no offers from either Hertz or Avis Budget group that it believed avoided regulatory hurdles, DTAG revealed that it is moving on as a standalone company.

This apparently ended a heated saga between three rental-car giants that lasted nearly a year-and-a-half, Auto Remarketing reported at the time of the announcement. For more information, see the Auto Remarketing story here.
