LAS VEGAS — The education schedule at the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association's Convention and Expo begins in earnest today with an all-day session that dives deep into the many facets of being an independent dealership.

Titled "Bucket of Chips: Enough to Last All Year!" today's session runs from 8 a.m. (PT) to 5 p.m. and will be headed up by Keith Whann, NIADA general counsel, who is the session leader.

Michael York, of The Michael York Co., will serve as master of ceremonies, and Jack Simmons of Cars.com will offer a special welcome.

NIADA called this session a "jam-packed day," one that will explore the various components of running an independent dealership.

"This year's convention education presents an all-day opening that will take you through every aspect of the independent dealership," a conference agenda explained. "We'll go from business management, legal/compliance, regulatory and finance to e-commerce.

"You will see interviews, panels and hear featured speakers discuss the issues that you face at your dealership," officials added. "Also, other daily convention education sessions along with opportunities in the expo will be highlighted."

There will also be a luncheon for first-time attendees. The expo have its grand opening at 5 p.m.
