CINCINNATI -

Swapalease.com executive vice president Scot Hall said he believes price trends in the lease market could get “particularly interesting” in coming months, given how lease penetration has remained in the 25-percent ballpark.

And there were some rather interesting lease pricing trends spotted by Swapalease in the month of October, as well.

Overall, Swapalease found that there was a 1.2-percent year-over-year rise in the average car lease price for vehicles on the road.

The monthly average of $586 compares to $582.02 in September and $579.93 in October 2012.

While there wasn’t too much variance in those comparisons, there was some disparity in looking at activity among the most popular models.

For instance, the Infiniti G37’s lease price was up 20.2 percent year-over-year, more than any of the other popular leases. Other double-digit-percentage increases includes the Ford Fusion (up 17.1 percent) Ford Escape (up 13 percent) and the Toyota Camry  (up 10.6 percent).

Consider the other end of the spectrum.

Prices for the Ford Focus were off 19.7 percent, more steep than any other model. Others had big decreases, including the Audi A4 (down 18 percent), Volkswagen Jetta (down 10.6 percent) and Toyota Prius (down 7.7 percent).

“We’re keeping an eye on several makes and models that have prices trending in both directions,” said Hall. “Lease pricing will get particularly interesting heading into 2014 now that the current lease penetration rate is holding near 25 percent.”
