TORRANCE, Calif. -

Honda announced this week it will recall 2,277 model-year 2010 Accord 4-cylinder units and CR-V vehicles in the U.S. The recall stems from a need to replace an electrical wire harness coupler in the engine compartment.

The automaker believes the wire harness coupler could have been damaged during vehicle assembly, which can lead to the engine stalling over time. Honda said it identified this issue through warranty repairs, and no related accidents or injuries have been reported.

The manufacturer is encouraging all owners of affected vehicles to take their units to an authorized franchise dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda. Officials indicated customer notification will begin in early next month.

In addition to notice by mail, vehicle owners can determine if repairs are necessary by visiting www.recalls.honda.com or calling (800) 999-1009 and selecting option No. 4.

“When Honda identifies concerns of this nature, nothing is more important to the company than fulfilling our obligation and responsibility to alert our customers,” Honda officials emphasized.
