FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. — Hyundai Motor America promoted one of its executives with 25 years of industry experience to be its vice president of marketing.

On Tuesday,president and chief executive officer John Krafcik announced that Chris Perry would be responsible for all of Hyundai marketing communications and brand development in the United States.

Since 2007, Perry has been director of marketing communications at Hyundai. The company said that Perry led the teams which developed and implemented Hyundai's consumer-focused, award-winning marketing programs. The efforts resulted in the automaker's recognition last year as Marketer of the Year from AdAge.

"Chris Perry is a passionate and talented marketing innovator who leads with a rare combination of consumer-focus, creativity and teamwork," Krafcik stated

"During his 10 years at Hyundai, Chris has moved from doing great brand planning and positioning work to delivering our 'big voices in big places' media strategy and groundbreaking creative, all the while building strong relationships with his agencies and colleagues," Krafcik continued.

"Nobody knows the Hyundai brand and our target customer better than Chris Perry, and no one is better equipped to take this growing brand to the next level," Krafcik added.

Before coming to Hyundai in May 2000, Perry worked in strategic planning and advertising for Isuzu and held marketing positions at the Della Femina McNamee Agency. Perry also served in roles at the consulting firm Diagnostic Research.
