Hyundai Gets Head Start on FIFA Sponsorship Renewal
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. -
Though its current contract with FIFA was not scheduled to end until 2014, Hyundai went ahead and renewed its sponsorship deal with the global soccer governing body through 2022.
This means the automaker will be the official automotive partner of the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups, in addition to its already scheduled plans to sponsor the event in 2014.
“Since our first association with FIFA in 1999, our commitment and support for FIFA has been unrivaled,” Hyundai Motor Group’s chairman and chief executive officer Mong-Koo Chung. “FIFA has set a benchmark for us, pushing our brand value and exposure to the highest levels. We are confident that this renewal will further enhance our business values and corporate vision.”
Per the renewed deal, Hyundai will be able to sponsor all FIFA competitions, the company noted. Also available to the automaker thanks to the partnership will be exclusive marketing opportunities, according to officials.
Additionally, Hyundai will also benefit through widespread media exposure and from being affiliated with special events and development initiatives, officials said.
Under the deal, FIFA will be offered Hyundai vehicles to take of its needs for the 2014, 2018 and 2022 World Cups as well other events it holds.
Hyundai was the official automotive supplier at each of the past three World Cups, which were held in 2002, 2006 and 2010.
“We are extremely happy to extend the partnership with Hyundai as one of the top FIFA partners who will provide active support for an additional two editions of the FIFA World Cup,” stated Joseph Blatter, FIFA president.
“Hyundai is a true partner who understands and shares our philosophy and passion for the game. FIFA is confident that Hyundai will continue to support us in developing the sport and further extending its reach around the world,” he added.
