Hyundai offers EV buyers a charger – at no charge
Hyundai wants to charge up its electric vehicle sales by giving EV buyers … a charger.
In an effort to encourage EV-curious customers to go electric, the automaker is offering a free ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger and a discount of up to $600 off installation to consumers who lease or buy a new 2023 or 2024 IONIQ 5, 2023 or 2024 IONIQ 6 or 2023 Kona Electric through Hyundai Motor Finance.
The offer is good through Oct. 31.
In a news release, Hyundai said the deal includes “an improved customer experience by leveraging Hyundai’s partnership with Electrum and its expert team of energy advisors.”
José Muñoz, president and global COO of Hyundai Motor Company and president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, said the company understands the concerns car shoppers have about “charging infrastructure and the process of preparing their homes” for owning an EV.
“With this offer,” he said, “we’re making it easier for everyone to go electric by providing our EV customers with an expert energy advisor who can personally walk them through the process of outfitting their homes with the proper charging, energy storage and collection equipment using our Hyundai Home Marketplace.”
Customers have 90 days from date they purchase or lease one of the selected models to schedule installation of the charger, which Hyundai said is valued at $549. An installation credit of up to $600 will also be included. To take advantage of the offer, customers will need a coupon code provided by Hyundai Motor Finance.
Following the purchase, customers who register on the Hyundai Home Marketplace and enter the coupon code with a dedicated energy advisor from Electrum to help guide them through the charger installation process, including from assessing the home, finding an installer and securing the permits required.
