IRVINE, Calif. — Kelley Blue Book's Kbb.com released its list of Top 10 Family Cars for 2010 recently, and in some good news for domestics, six of the vehicles that made the rankings were from Ford or Chevrolet.

Ford's 2010 Flex and Taurus models were on the list, as well as the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid.

Meanwhile, Chevrolet's Suburban, Equinox and Traverse were named as top family vehicles, too. Honda was well represented, as its 2010 Odyssey and Accord Crosstour vehicles were also recognized.

Rounding out the list were the Hyundai Elantra Touring and Subaru Outback.

To determine the list, Kbb.com evaluated eligible vehicles in such areas as resale value, fuel efficiency, capability and kid-friendliness.

Editors said the vehicles on the list can accommodate the needs of "wide variety of families — everything from an SUV that can comfortably accommodate nine passengers to a compact, fuel-efficient wagon capable of taking the road less traveled."

Jack Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kbb.com, noted: "While the product landscape in the new-car world seems ever-changing, the vehicle needs of the typical American family remain fairly constant; capable versatility, value, safety and economical factors usually remain top-of-mind.

"There are many competent choices available on the market today, but the kbb.com editors chose a wide variety of what we feel are the Top 10 Family Cars that should be on every family's consideration list for 2010," he continued.
