MANHEIM, Pa. -

As part of parent company Cox Enterprises’ program to help spruce up the nation’s rivers, Manheim Pennsylvania recently chipped in on efforts to clean the Conestoga River in Lancaster County Central Park.

There were more than 100 Manheim employees and their family members on hand for the event, as they teamed with volunteers from American Rivers to pick up debris from the river and surrounding park area.

Manheim is a participant in Cox Conserves, which is the parent company’s national sustainability program. Through a partnership with American Rivers, Cox employees have picked up more than 4.5 tons of trash from rivers.

“We are delighted to partner with Manheim Pennsylvania to protect and restore the Conestoga River for the benefit of the community,” stated Lynsey Knowles, National River Cleanup campaign manager for American Rivers. “Keeping our rivers healthy and clean contributes to safety, the availability of clean water and preserves our beautiful national heritage for future generations.”

Manheim Pennsylvania vice president and general manager Tim Van Dam added, “Our team was very excited about being involved in such a worthwhile effort that supports conservation and our local communities. Manheim Pennsylvania employees and their families are committed to lending a hand in restoring and improving our parks and rivers for all who visit and enjoy the surrounding area.”

Sharing more about its continual conservation efforts, the auction is planning to retrofit all pole-mounted outdoor lighting fixtures to include more energy-efficient lamps. Manheim Pennsylvania said it also plans to install a new control system at the auction to schedule and dim individual fixtures. This can result in energy savings, as well.
