ATLANTA — Manheim's The Wholesale Institute recently commemorated a significant milestone in Chicago during National Dealer Automotive Career Month.

The traveling workshop series held its 100th session in early April. The company looked back on the success TWI has had in helping dealers meet their profit goals via online wholesaling.

"From mobile apps to advanced vehicle search, buying and selling online is a constantly evolving science," explained Amanda Savage, customer relations director of Manheim Online Solutions. Savage also leads TWI.

"Keeping up to speed with how these new tools and technologies can dramatically impact used-vehicle operations profitability is just one of the many key learnings we offer dealers at every workshop," she added.

At TWI workshops — whose total dealer attendance has reached more than 1,600 so far — dealers are taught how to build trusted vehicle listings that attract buyers.

Moreover, they are also shown how valuable accurate condition reports can be.

TWI is designed to help dealers achieve a grasp of new online tools and strategies and learn what it takes to build transparency, trust and profitability via wholesale auctions.

"Online buyers have to believe that the vehicle they are considering is exactly what the seller claims it to be," Savage stated. "Building that level of trust throughout the entire remarketing channel has long been a top priority at Manheim, and we believe that TWI is an excellent conduit for setting and sharing industry-wide high standards."

Savage pointed out that TWI can also act as a feedback loop in developing Manheim products and services.  Attending dealers have their own unique challenges and issues, and the TWI is a chance for Manheim to learn more about what dealers need.

"The Wholesale Institute is not only a great forum for customer education, but an opportunity to gather customer insight and feedback," Savage shared. "I enjoy bringing it back to our Atlanta-based product teams as we strive to continually improve our customers' experiences."
