SALT LAKE CITY — The Larry Miller Group unveiled its newest store this week, what executives called the "prototype property for General Motors."

The group celebrated the opening of its new Chevrolet dealership in Murray, Utah, at 5500 South State St. This facility is the first of four rooftops the company plans to open spanning four blocks. The entire project is expected to wrap up late next year.

Tony Schnurr, president of the Larry Miller Automotive Division, highlighted several amenities of this new Chevrolet store. Schnurr indicated the design features a more customer-friendly layout making various departments easy to access. He also pointed out the facility has comfortable waiting areas with free wireless service, a children's play area, and educational kiosks where customers can learn more about vehicle accessories and model features.

"We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the Chevrolet dealership. The new design is the first of its kind for a Chevrolet store," Schnurr declared.

"Both our company and General Motors have worked together to design and develop this state-of-the-art facility," he continued.

"We believe our customers will be rewarded with an enhanced shopping experience, feel educated about their options and confident in their decision-making ability when it comes to purchasing the right car for their needs," Schnurr added.

The new dealership is already turning heads in the local community. Murray mayor Daniel Snarr offered a glowing assessment.

"When I toured the new Chevrolet dealership, it was so impressive. This will be a great facility for folks to enjoy as they shop for a new vehicle," Snarr commented.

"I appreciate the commitment of the Larry Miller family to growing their dealerships in Murray. Their project on State Street will make this the premier location to find an automobile. We are so excited to continue our excellent partnership with them," Snarr went on to say.

The group hopes to roll out a new Toyota dealership in November as the next completed segment of this extensive capital project. The other two installments are scheduled to be finished up next year, including a Honda store and another yet-to-be-determined franchise operation.

The Larry Miller Group employs approximately 4,000 individuals in the state of Utah with more than 500 working at four Murray dealership locations.

One of those employees is Kasey Webster, who is general manager of this new Chevrolet dealership. Group executives recounted that Webster began her career at age 17 as a receptionist at this very dealership.

While working for the company, Webster was trained in finance, completed her college education and in 1997 moved to finance manager at group's former Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Subaru dealership in Midvale. Two years later, the group promoted her to sales manager.

In 2001, the group sold that dealership and moved Webster to this Chevrolet operation as sales manager. In 2006, she became general sales manager and last year moved into the general manager's role.

"When I started with the Larry Miller Group as a teenager I never dreamed of becoming the general manager of a dealership," Webster conceded.

"It is a great testament to not only my drive and determination, but to the corporate culture within the Miller group to provide education to employees and their families, reward loyalty and give staff the tools they need to be promoted from within whenever possible," she concluded.
