WASHINGTON, D.C. -

On the heels of the federal government announcing its 2017—2025 fuel-economy proposal last week, the National Automobile Dealers Association is reminding dealerships to pick up their copy of the 2012 Fuel Economy Guide, which was recently released by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Included in the guide are detailed fuel-economy numbers for 2012 model-year vehicles, estimated annual fuel costs and other vital information points for car shoppers.

“Dealers must display a copy of the guide and provide copies to customers upon request,” NADA emphasized.

The association then listed several options available to dealers:

—EPA/DOE is distributing electronic copies of the guide this month.

—Dealers can visit here to download the guide electronically.

—To order a hard copy, dealers can do any of the following:

  • Visit this link.
  • Call the DOE Information Center at (877) 337-3463 between 9 a.m. (EST) and 7 p.m.
  • Complete this form and mail it in.

Dealers can receive hard copies for free in the mail during December.

For more information about how to provide this guide to customers, dealers can refer to this letter from the EPA/DOE.
