McLEAN, Va. -

NADA University, the education and training arm of the National Automobile Dealers Association, introduced a new, fully updated and easily accessible guide to the complex Federal Excise Tax compliance rules facing truck dealers.

NADA officials explained on Tuesday that the tool, “A Guide to Federal Excise Tax Compliance,” is a new addition to the Driven Management Guide series offered by NADA U. They said the guide is designed to tackle the crucial FET issues faced by truck dealers so they can apply the tax correctly or make reasonable assessments when the rules are unclear.

Together with NADA, the guide was written by FET experts Mark Sidman and Rose-Michele Nardi of the firm, Weiner Brodsky Sidman Kider. Sidman and Nardi have 45 years of combined experience advising truck retailers on FET issues.

NADA U is offering the guide free of charge to American Truck Dealer and NADA members. It can be accessed on the NADA U site www.NADAUniversity.com at the Resource Toolbox, Driven Management Guides, Legal/Regulatory.

The guide is $50 for non-members at the NADA U Store.

This is the first Driven guide that NADA U has made available both as a fully downloadable PDF document and divided into chapters with tests, serving as a completely trackable educational resource for dealers who want to train their employees on FET rules.

“Understanding FET rules is not only a challenge for truck dealers; it’s critical to their bottom line and meeting compliance requirements,” stressed John Lyboldt, vice president of dealership operations at NADA.

“This is the most timely and comprehensive guide for dealers that clearly addresses these complicated issues,” Lyboldt concluded.
