TORRANCE, Calif. — As the automaker emerges from its recent challenges with safety recalls, Toyota Motor Sales USA has rolled out a new advertising campaign to get the word out about its Star Safety System that comes standard on its entire lineup of new vehicles.

The five safety technologies included in this system, all of which are featured in all new Toyota models, include vehicle stability control, traction control, anti-lock brake system, electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist.

During the advertisements — which will be featured through TV, print, digital, radio and outdoor ad platforms — Toyota owners and engineers will discuss safety and quality.

"From Yaris to Land Cruiser, Toyota is the first full-line manufacturer to combine these five key accident-avoidance technologies as standard equipment on every model," stated Bob Carter, who is the Toyota division group vice president and general manager.

"Toyota customers tell us they want to know more about the Toyota safety story, and the Star Safety System is just one of the features that reassure them about the safety and quality of our vehicles," he added.

In addition to the five aforementioned safety components, all Toyota, Lexus and Scion models will be upgraded with a feature that typically is called "brake-override technology" by year's end.

"This braking-system enhancement will automatically reduce engine power when the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal are applied simultaneously under certain driving conditions," officials explained. "Many of the vehicles currently at Toyota dealership already include brake override as standard equipment."

Vehicles in the 2011 lineup for sale that include this feature are the Camry, Sienna, Avalon and Scion xB models. Also, a few 2010 models have it, as well.

"Brake-override technology has always been and will continue to be standard on all Toyota and Lexus hybrid vehicles as part of the hybrid system control logic," the automaker added.
