BALTIMORE -

National Finance Adjusters leadership confirmed the man who literally wrote the book about how the repossession industry should operate tragically passed away recently.

NFA executive director Joan Hudson said Jack Barnes died last Monday on an ATV at his Oklahoma home when an apparent medical emergency occurred.

Barnes’ book, Collateral Recovery, has been printed multiple times and his other publications have become part of the curriculum for certification programs across the country.

“It is with a heavy heart that we convey the news of Jack Barnes’ death to you, our valued members and peers,” Hudson began.

“Jack Barnes was bigger than life,” she continued. “He was first and foremost a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His family was his first and primary love. This giant of a man had such wisdom and intuition most could only dream of. His early years in marketing readily transferred to all future endeavors he might value sufficiently to throw himself fully into. Jack did nothing in half-hearted attempts. He gave himself 100 percent and more to whatever challenge captured his attention and imagination.”

Hudson then touched on how Barnes influenced the repossession industry.

“Jack S. Barnes was instrumental in writing much of the code and practice guidelines for persons involved in the collateral recovery and liquidation business,” Hudson insisted.

“A dedicated member and leader of the National Finance Adjusters organization, Jack also shared the fruit of his timeless study and research with new businessmen and women, as well as sister organizations including Time Finance Adjusters, American Recovery Association and others,” she pointed out.

“Jack Barnes will be missed sorely and remembered fondly for his love of life, commitment to worthy causes, dedication to family and steadfast friendship,” Hudson concluded.
