FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

Nissan Americas today announced that Jose Valls will join the company as regional vice president, Commercial, Nissan Mexicana, effective April 1.

In his new assignment, Valls will report to Jose Munoz, president and general director, Nissan Mexicana, and be responsible for the company’s commercial activities in Mexico.

Valls will oversee the company’s ongoing efforts to increase its presence in Mexico, where it currently holds the market-leader position with more than 23 percent share.

He joins Nissan after 10 years with General Motors in Mexico and Latin America where, in his most recent assignment, he was responsible for sales operations, fleet and commercial, distribution, dealer development, product development and portfolio management.

"Jose’s proven ability to drive strong brands and robust sales will help Nissan achieve our goal of sustained market leadership in Mexico," said Munoz. "His deep knowledge of Mexico’s competitive environment and Mexican consumers will be critical to our team’s ongoing success."
