FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

Nissan North America revealed Monday it has chosen a new marketing director to “enhance” its brand power, among other responsibilities.

Tapped for the position is Vinay Shahani, whose full title will be director of marketing communications and media for Nissan North America. The change is effective April 1.

In his new role, the company noted that Shahani will “lead marketing strategies and initiatives that enhance Nissan’s brand and sales power.”

When he steps into the new position, he will succeed Bill Peffer, who will be taking on a new role as managing director of Nissan (Australia) Pty. Ltd.

In his new position, Shahani — who  currently serves as Dallas-area general manager — will report to Jon Brancheau, vice president of Nissan marketing.

"Vinay brings a proven track record and deep understanding of Nissan’s operations to his new role," says Brancheau.

"I’m confident that in this critical position, Vinay’s strong industry knowledge will help further drive opinion of the Nissan brand and increase purchase intention of our cars and trucks,” he continued.

Highlighting Shahani’s background with the company, he joined Nissan in 2004 and has held positions of increasing responsibility in manufacturing, product marketing and sales, the company explained.
