ALEXANDRIA, Va. -

The American International Automobile Dealers Association is calling for nominations for its David F. Mungenast Lifetime Achievement Award that annually spotlights an auto industry professional for achieving business success while also being dedicated to his family and community.

The winner will be revealed at AIADA’s 41st Annual Meeting and Luncheon, which will be held in San Francisco on Feb. 7. Nominations are due Oct. 31.

Offering a bit of history about the man whose name the award bears, AIADA chairman Rick DeSilva explained that late Mungenast got his auto industry start in 1965 in south St. Louis. At that point, he opened a Honda motorcycle store. He would end up opening several dealerships across several brands, including Acura, Honda, Hyundai, Lexus, Scion and Toyota.

“Despite his success, he never forgot his community and always made a point of giving back,” DeSilva said.

“To this day, a portion of the Dave Mungenast Automotive Family profits is dedicated to the Dave and Barbara Mungenast Foundation, which supports numerous charities and foundations, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Boys’ Club of St. Louis, and the St. Louis Food Bank,” he continued.

DeSilva added: “Dave’s life and legacy set the bar high, and those like him deserve to be honored. If you know someone in the international auto industry like Dave Mungenast Sr., we want to know!”
