REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — OPENLANE and Carfax recently revealed a partnership that allows dealers to scan vehicle history reports on units going through the online auction.

The announcement also means dealers can access both the Carfax Auction Quick Check and Carfax Vehicle History Reports directly through OPENLANE's site. Officials stressed that the partnership can help dealers make wiser choices for their inventories based on solid pricing and condition information.

Geoff Bedine, director of used vehicle operations for Group 1 Automotive, further reinforced how the partnership between OPENLANE and Carfax can be beneficial.

"There are many factors that we consider before putting any car on our lot — vehicle history is paramount," Bedine pointed out.

"Having access to Carfax information through the OPENLANE Open Auction is a tremendous benefit that streamlines our auction buying process," he went on to say.

"Carfax Auction Quick Check helps us pinpoint the vehicles our customers want and cherry-pick the best of the best," Bedine added.

Daniel Farrar, chief executive officer of OPENLANE, also talked about the auction company's partnership with Carfax.

"There are so many steps involved when purchasing a car and the more information that the buying dealer can access about the vehicle prior to purchasing it, the better," Farrar explained.

"By providing our entire dealer base, both franchise and independent, the ability to access Carfax Vehicle History Reports, we are providing dealers with access to more information about the vehicles and helping to make the entire transaction process even more seamless and efficient," Farrar concluded.
