Pandora Reveals Latest Automotive Partner
Bringing its automotive brand partner count to 19, Internet radio provider Pandora revealed the latest addition to its line-up on Wednesday.
Joining its group of automotive partners is Mazda, who has announced plans to integrate the service into the radio of its vehicles.
The OEM noted that Mazda models that will feature Pandora are expected to roll out on lots this fall.
Commenting on the news, Pandora chief marking officer Simon Fleming-Wood said, "With more than 100 million registered smartphone users and partnerships with 19 automotive brands, Pandora is well on its way to becoming a standard part of the in-vehicle experience.
“We are thrilled to welcome new automotive partners like Mazda who are key in helping us deliver the future of radio to people in one of the most popular venues for radio listening – the car,” he continued.
Delving further into how the radio program will be integrated into Mazda models, officials explained the Mazda in-dash entertainment system will support "hallmark" Pandora functions such as thumbs-up, thumbs-down and track skip; In-car connectivity is made possible via a paired iPhone running the Pandora application.
And this is just another step in Pandora’s foray into the automotive market.
To date, Pandora has announced partnerships with a total of 19 automotive brands and seven aftermarket manufacturers to offer personalized radio via the in-dash entertainment system using the connectivity of a smartphone. Moreover, there are more than 50 models that feature Pandora currently available at dealerships with additional models expected in 2012, officials concluded.
