POADA Hosts Free Seminar to Tackle Red Flags Rule Compliance
CARY, N.C. — The deadline for the Federal Trade Commission's Red Flags Rule is about six weeks away. Are you, as a dealer, compliant, and have you done all you need to do to protect your stores?
To make sure you are ready when the June 1 enforcement deadline arrives, the Pre-Owned Automobile Dealers Alliance is here to help.
POADA is hosting a free Webinar on Tuesday titled "Pre-Owned LIVE: Compliance, not Complications. Navigating the Red Flags Rule Process to Make Certain Your Stores are Safe, Secure & Protected"
The seminar, which begins at 2 p.m., will hone in on two key areas of the Red Flags Rule impacting dealers:
—Identity Theft — How to protect yourself with respect to Internet Sales or other customer-not-present sales in developing your Red Flags Rule process.
—Lender Enforcement — How the Red Flags Rule puts dealers at risk of repurchasing contracts that would have been previously written off as credit losses.
In essence, dealers must not only tackle the real-world challenge of identity thieves, but also make sure they abide by FTC standards and the compliance management procedures of their lender partners.
To help dealers through these processes, several experts will be on hand during the workshop. In addition to presentations, they will also field questions.
Participating presenters include:
—George Hartman, director national business development, RouteOne.
—Gil Van Over, president, gvo3 & Associates.
—Eric G. Bryant, finance director, Classic Chevrolet.
—Randy Henrick, associate general counsel, DealerTrack.
"We're beyond thrilled to welcome these experts to this upcoming Pre-Owned LIVE Webinar," said POADA executive Bill Zadeits. "The Red Flags Rule is a complex issue, but these industry leaders can give dealers the necessary advice and tools to ensure they are not only compliant, but safe, secure and protected."
