National Vehicle Safety Recalls Week is coming up March 3-9, and dealership service recall management platform BizzyCar wants to make sure it’s observed accordingly.
Vehicle Safety Recalls Week was established by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2010. It comes up twice a year, when the time changes from standard to daylight savings and when it changes back. The idea is to remind people to check for recalls on their vehicles when the clocks change.
BizzyCar is on board with that message, noting millions of vehicles are recalled annually, making it “essential” for consumers take prompt action and for dealerships to manage recall repairs effectively to ensure safety.
“Vehicle Safety Recalls Week serves as an important reminder for consumers to check for active recalls on their vehicles,” BizzyCar CEO Ryan Maher said. “At BizzyCar, we’re committed to supporting dealerships with AI-driven solutions that automate recall management, ensuring safer roads and helping dealers generate service revenue.”
BizzyCar’s technology is designed to simplify the recall process, making it easier for consumers to address vehicle safety issues while helping dealers stay ahead of recall-related service opportunities.
In recognition of the upcoming Vehicle Safety Recalls Week, BizzyCar offered tips for consumers and dealers for dealing with recalls.
For consumers:
Check for recalls: Check for open recalls by visiting NHTSA.gov/recalls and entering the vehicle’s VIN or license plate number.
Don’t ignore recalls: Schedule an appointment with a dealership right away if you receive a recall notice. Ignoring a recall can compromise your safety and that of others.
Be proactive about repairs: Many dealerships offer automated recall alerts and can schedule appointments to have them fixed at no charge.
Look for recall history: When shopping for a vehicle, whether used or new, always verify whether the vehicle you’re considering has open recalls.
Vehicle maintenance: Regular maintenance visits are a great time to ensure a vehicle is free from open recalls. Many dealers check for recalls during routine service appointments.
For dealers:
Actively communicate: Remind customers regularly of open recalls and offer free repairs.
Educate drivers: Provide resources about the recall process and the importance of timely repairs.
Be proactive: Check for open recalls during routine service visits, even if the customer doesn’t specifically mention it.
BizzyCar said Vehicle Safety Recalls Week is an opportunity for dealers to reinforce their role in vehicle safety and ensure timely recall repairs.
“In 2024, more than 27 million vehicles were recalled,” Maher said, citing a statistic from BizzyCar’s 2024 Recall Report, “underscoring the critical need for an efficient, reliable solution like BizzyCar to manage these repairs and drive service revenue.
“BizzyCar not only ensures compliance and safety but also optimizes the process, reduces marketing costs and strengthens customer relationships.”
