CarGurus has appointed Jennifer Hanson as its new chief people officer, effective Sept. 30, citing her 20-plus years of experience in human resources, employee benefits and law.

In a news release, the company said Hanson will lead its People and Talent team in advancing organizational strategies, talent development and engagement to drive business performance.

Hanson’s experience includes positions in the technology, healthcare and financial services sectors. CarGurus said she is “known as an innovator with a passion for human-centered design.”

Her most recent role was chief HR officer for Accolade, a national healthcare technology company, where CarGurus said she “evolved the HR function to cultivate a high-performing team and implement cross-functional initiatives that helped address the most critical talent acquisition and retention priorities.”

Hanson previously served for more than 15 years with Fidelity Investments, using her legal background and healthcare knowledge to launch and lead an early-stage Medicare start-up created in the company’s innovation incubator. She also led the employee benefits function and built the employee experience function with a focus on developing culture, benefits and day-to-day experiences.

Hanson began her career as an in-house healthcare attorney focused on employee benefits, compensation, contracting and compliance.
