Dealer news: SC dealerships back in the family; ALM acquires Atlanta-area Chevy store from Asbury
They say what goes around, comes around.
In this case, what has come back around are two car dealerships, now back in the hands of Mark Escude II after his family’s dealership group sold them a year ago.
Escude’s new Escude Automotive Group, based in Greer, S.C., has acquired the local dealerships — Fred Anderson Nissan of Greer and Fred Anderson Chevrolet of Easley in nearby Easley, S.C. — from Anderson Automotive Group, according to The Presidio Group, which advised the seller in the transaction.
The dealerships were among seven acquired by Anderson Auto in its purchase of the Escude family’s MCE Automotive Group in August 2023.
But a year later, the script was flipped.
“After completing the MCE transaction last year, we decided to divest these two stores and direct our resources to other needs and opportunities,” Anderson Automotive Group chairman Fred Anderson said in a news release.
Mark Escude II, who had been part of MCE’s leadership team, was happy to snap them up.
“Our family is fortunate to call the upstate region home,” he said, “and we’re eager to get back to work serving our local community.”
Anderson Auto now operates 16 dealerships in North and South Carolina.
ALM acquires Nalley Chevrolet from Asbury
ALM Automotive Group has added another franchise dealership in its hometown.
The metro Atlanta-based group has acquired Nalley Chevrolet in suburban Union City, Ga., from Asbury Automotive Group — another Atlanta-based business — according to Kerrigan Advisors, which represented the seller.
ALM, founded in 2006 as an independent used-car store, has now grow to 14 locations in Georgia and South Carolina, including seven franchise dealerships.
Asbury is one of the nation’s largest automotive retailers, with 155 dealerships and 37 collision centers in 15 states that generated $14.8 billion in revenue in 2023.
