Kia America’s certified pre-owned program has hit the million mark.

Kia’s 1 millionth U.S. CPO vehicle was sold April 21 at Kia of Brandon in Tampa, Fla. The 2024 Kia EV6 Light Long Range was purchased by Bryce Ashmore — but Kia picked up the check.

“The EV6 had really great reviews, and I always find certified pre-owned vehicles offer the best bang for the buck,” Ashmore said, according to a Kia news release. “Kia is building a quality product that will stay with you, so your gift is truly hard to believe. Thank you so much.”

Kia said the landmark sale illustrates “the strong value” of Kia CPO to consumers and “the overall longevity” of the product, citing the brand’s rise to third among all brands in J.D. Power’s 2024 residual value analysis from No. 12 in 2018.

The sale came 17 years after Kia’s first CPO sale — a 2006 Rio sold Jan. 25, 2008 at Kia of Milford in Milford, Conn., concurrent with the launch of the program.

“This milestone highlights the strength of Kia’s certified pre-owned program and the trust our customers place in our brand,” Kia America vice president of sales Eric Watson said in a news release. “And today’s announcement also highlights just how far our brand has evolved — from Rio to EV6.

“Reaching 1 million CPO sales is a testament to the quality, reliability and value Kia delivers, not just in new vehicles but across our entire lineup.”

Kia said its CPO program offers a 165-point inspection, a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, 24-hour roadside assistance and “additional benefits that enhance customer value.”
