When it comes to retaining value, Toyota Motor Corporation rules all.
Toyota and its premium brand Lexus were the clear winners in Kelley Blue Book’s 23rd annual Best Resale Value Awards — and no one else was even close.
Both claimed 2025 model year Best Resale Value: Brand titles, Toyota overall and Lexus in the luxury category. The win was Toyota’s eighth in the past nine years, and Lexus’ second in a row.
Among individual model segments, Toyota took seven awards and Lexus six, with Honda next at three, EV manufacturer Rivian with two and no other brand with more than one. And Toyota accounted for five of the top 10 vehicles overall for projected residual value.
The Best Resale Value Awards are based on residual value projections from the Kelley Blue Book Official Residual Value Guide, established by automotive analysts’ review of statistical models built from millions of transactions. The winners have the highest five-year residual values (for average condition and 75,000 miles) as a percentage of the original manufacturer’s suggested retail price.
“Toyota continues to ride the tide of its winning streak,” Kelley Blue Book senior manager of valuation and analysis operations Rheia Szymczyk said. “While there are several repeat winners on this year’s Best Resale Value list, notable standouts include a few new models winning the award for the first time, especially in the ever-expanding electric vehicle categories.”
The model with the best overall resale value was, not surprisingly, a Toyota: the Tacoma mid-size pickup, to be exact, with an estimated five-year residual of 64.1% of its MSRP. It was followed by the Chevrolet Corvette (61%), Toyota Tundra (60.9%), Toyota 4Runner (60%) and Ford Bronco (57%).
