Vaughan Automotive added to its presence in the Houston area with the acquisition of Tejas Toyota in Humble, Texas, the dealership group said.

The family-operated business, which owns Toyota stores in Houston and Boerne, Texas, has rebranded the store as Space City Toyota. In a news release, the company said the acquisition was driven by “a strategic vision” to expand its footprint and enhance its portfolio with an established dealership.

“This acquisition marks a significant milestone for Vaughan Automotive,” owner and CEO Shawn Vaughan said. “By integrating Tejas Toyota into our family, we are poised to strengthen our presence in key markets and leverage their reputation for excellence, paving the way for substantial growth.”

Vaughan Automotive said Tejas Toyota is renowned for its loyal customer base and its addition enables Vaughan Automotive to “leverage operational synergies” and offers “opportunities to introduce advanced automotive solutions to a wider audience.”

The dealership’s new name, the company said, was chosen to “honor Houston’s heritage as a hub of innovation and exploration” as the command center of the U.S. space program, and seeks to inspire confidence and loyalty among customers.

“Houston embodies a profound spirit of ingenuity, and by adopting the Space City Toyota identity we aim to embrace and reflect that pioneering ethos,” Vaughan said. “We are excited to embark on this new chapter, delivering not only exceptional automotive experiences but also contributing to the vibrant growth of Humble and its surrounding areas.

“Space City Toyota represents a new era for us — one filled with growth, innovation and a stronger connection with our community.”
