Delaware-based Winner Automotive Group added to its holdings in its home state with the acquisition of Diver Chevrolet in Wilmington from the Diver family.

The dealership, now called Winner Chevrolet, becomes Winner’s sixth location in Delaware, joining Audi, Ford, Hyundai, Subaru and Volkswagen stores. Winner also operates Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Porsche, Bentley, MG, Maxus and Renault dealerships in Ukraine.

Delaware Business Now reported Winner had previously been a seller in the dealership M&A market, having divested locations in Newark, Del.

“This acquisition aligns with our vision of offering customers a comprehensive automotive experience,” Winner Automotive Group owner Michael Hynansky said. “We are grateful for the support of the Diver family and team that has built such a solid foundation for our future success.

“Diver Chevrolet has a storied history and a loyal customer base, and we look forward to upholding its legacy while adding our expertise and resources to deliver a best-in-class sales and service experience.”

Frank Diver began selling cars in 1915. The dealership moved to its current location in 1935 and was granted a Chevy franchise in 1952. The sale comes a year after the death of Frank Diver’s grandson Rich Diver, who had led the operation since the 1980s.

In a “message of gratitude” posted on the dealership’s website, Diver Chevrolet vice president and general manager Doug Diver told customers they “will be in excellent hands with Michel Hynansky and his team, who are committed to providing the same outstanding service you have come to expect from us over the years.”

“As we reflect on our 109 years of serving our community in Wilmington,” he added, “we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the generations of employees and customers who have been part of the Diver Chevrolet family. It has been our privilege to serve you.”
