SAN FRANCISCO -

Shift said Monday it has named Oded Shein as the company’s chief financial officer, with the company's co-founder saying Shein brings strong experience as a public company CFO, financial expertise and proven leadership qualities.

Shein replaces Cindy Hanford, who steps down after serving as Shift’s finance leader since 2019. Hanford will continue as a Shift consultant to assist with the transition through April 21.

Meantime, in his new position as CFO, Shein will oversee all finance, accounting and business operations functions.

Shein’s public company experience in the retail industry includes serving as CFO of Stage Stores for seven years. Currently, he serves as a board member and chair of the audit committee at Conn’s HomePlus.

Other previous positions for Shein include time as CFO of The Fresh Market and senior finance roles at Belk and Charming Shoppes.

Shein will oversee a team led by other experienced finance professionals. They include controller and senior vice president Blima Tuller and vice president of FP&A and business operations Julie Zarenko.

Shift co-founder and co-chief executive officer George Arison said the company is happy that Shein has joined the organization, and Shein said he was pleased to join the company after its record-breaking year last year.

“I feel privileged to have this opportunity to serve Shift’s customers, teammates, community and shareholders,” Shein said in a news release.

Shein’s appointment will be effective upon the filing of the company’s annual report on Form 10-K for the year ended Dec. 31.

Regarding Hanford, co-founder and co-CEO Toby Russell said, “On behalf of our board of directors and everyone at Shift, I thank Cindy for her exceptional leadership and contribution as our CFO over the past year. She led our finance operation as we transitioned to a publicly held company and built a strong finance team. Cindy has made a valuable contribution to Shift, a foundation from which we build as we grow Shift.”
