CarMax Chooses Grand Prize Winner in Video Contest
CarMax revealed Tuesday the grand prize winner of a social-media contest that promoted its new CarMax EasyShop program, which allows consumers to complete more of the car-shopping processes online before visiting a store.
The contest — which lasted four weeks and began in May — encouraged shoppers in the Raleigh-Durham and Fayetteville areas of North Carolina to submit videos sharing what they would do with the time saved by the new program.
Winning top accolades was Gregory Ng of Raleigh. As the grand-prize winner, Ng receives $2,500 and will have his video featured on local TV station WRAL throughout the week of July 11 in a CarMax ad that will air during the station’s 6 a.m. (EST) news show.
Ng’s video was chosen over two other finalists by the judging panel. It features a husband powering through his “honey-do list” more quickly, thanks to EasyShop. This allowed him to “pursue his true calling” of celebrity impersonations.
His video was one of 12 that were entered. Ng grabbed over 35 percent of the votes.
“Though it was a tough choice, Mr. Ng’s video captured the fun and spontaneity of the CarMax brand and also communicated the benefits of our CarMax EasyShop service,” stated Michael Reeder, CarMax’s director of broadcast.
Sharing in more detail how EasyShop works, shoppers can use the program to complete tasks online like reserving a vehicle, scheduling a test drive, filling out financing applications, initiating a transfer and paying for it and choosing a MaxCare service plan.
Moreover, EasyShop allows shoppers to schedule appraisals and get paperwork rolling.
It debuted in March and is currently only available in Raleigh and Fayetteville.
