WASHINGTON, D.C. -

Carvana now operates 10 car vending machines. The latest, announced Tuesday, is in the Washington, D.C. area.

The Gaithersburg, Md., facility is fully automated, coin-operated, is eight stories high and can hold up to 30 vehicles.

The new vending machine is open Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. E.T. to 7 p.m.

The Washington-area vending machine follows Carvana’s recent debut of another East Coast vending machine, as the online retailer opened its second North Carolina vending machine last month.

Along with Washington, Carvana now has vending machines in Houston; Austin, Texas; San Antonio; Dallas; Nashville, Tenn.; Raleigh, N.C.; Charlotte N.C.; Jacksonville, Fla.; and Tampa.

“Washington, D.C. residents have welcomed the new way to buy a car for nearly two years,” Carvana chief executive Ernie Garcia said in a news release. “Growing our presence on the East Coast is a great way to kick off the summer. We’re looking forward to bringing the fun car-buying experience we’re known for to even more people in the area.”
