CARY, N.C. -

Thanks to a new partnership announced Tuesday, a consumer who leases a vehicle through the Honcker on-demand leasing platform will able to sell his or her existing vehicle to Carvana.

Honcker has integrated the online used-car retailer’s proprietary technology into its platform, allowing consumers to receive an offer on their existing ride through Carvana and set up a new lease through Honcker — all while using the Honcker platform.

The integration has been completed on both the Honcker website and app.

Citing research from Edmunds, Honcker said 43 percent of consumers considering leasing have an existing vehicle they need to trade in or sell.

“Honcker has already made technological leaps in how people can lease a new car and now, by integrating the process of selling a used vehicle on our platform, we are solving a problem for consumers,” founder and chief executive officer Nathan Hecht said in a news release.

“Our mission is to modernize the car leasing transaction by making it as easy and seamless as booking a plane ticket online,” Hecht said. “Carvana shares our vision for what the future of auto retail looks like, and I couldn’t be more excited about this partnership.”

Honcker, which was founded in 2016, provides an end-to-end digital car leasing platform that includes pricing, transacting and delivery setup through its app. Headquartered in New York, Honcker partners with more than 1,000 dealers in 12 states to offer these services.

“We’re known for our new way to buy a car — entirely online, with exceptional customer service — though it’s just as easy to sell us your car,” Carvana chief product officer Dan Gill said in a news release.

“By offering customers the ability to sell their existing vehicles to us, seamlessly within the Honcker app, we are creating a fast and convenient solution for Honcker users,” he said.

Hotwire president joins Carvana board

In other news involving Carvana, the company has added Hotwire president Neha Parikh to its board of directors.

Hotwire is part of the Expedia Group, where Parikh has worked since 2008. In addition to her role as Hotwire president, her time with the group has included multiple roles with Hotels.com, including senior vice president of global brands.

Parikh’s experience also includes time with The Cambridge Group (a Nielson company), Dade Behring (a Siemens healthcare company) and Pricewaterhouse Coopers, LLP.

“Through innovative technology and an exceptional focus on the customer, the Carvana team really is revolutionizing the car buying experience and I am delighted to get to be a part of their journey,” Parikh said in a news release.

“On my first visit to the Carvana offices, I took a picture of their prominently displayed values, one of which is ‘Your next customer may be your mom,’ which I love; relentless customer focus has been central to my career, so I’m thrilled to align with a company that puts their customers first,” she said.

Added Carvana founder and CEO Ernie Garcia, “We’re proud to welcome Neha to our board of directors. From our first meeting it was clear that her expertise in online customer experience and customer acquisition provides knowledge and perspective that will be highly additive to our board.

“Neha is an immediately impressive person and we look forward to benefiting from the energy and passion she brings to everything she engages in.”
